The Developer's VC

We exist to back the companies building the next layer of developer infrastructure. Our thesis is simple: the most important software companies of the next decade will be built by developers, for developers.

Founded on a Conviction About Developer Power

Syntract Capital was founded in New York in 2024 with a single conviction: that the next generation of enterprise software would be won or lost at the developer experience layer. We watched firsthand as tools like GitHub, Stripe, Twilio, and Datadog built billion-dollar businesses not through enterprise sales — but through developer love.

Our founding team comes from backgrounds in software engineering, infrastructure operations, and early-stage technology investing. We understand the product decisions and technical trade-offs that developer-tool companies face, because we have lived them ourselves.

We raised our Seed Round of $5 million to provide concentrated, high-conviction capital to a small portfolio of exceptional founders. We are not trying to spray-and-pray. Every investment we make is backed by a deep belief in the team, the market, and the product approach.

Our limited partners include institutional investors and technology executives who share our belief in the long-term value of developer infrastructure.

How We Invest

Our investment approach is designed to give founders the support and conviction they need to build transformative companies.

Stage: Seed

We lead and co-lead seed rounds, typically when companies have early product traction and a founding team with strong technical credibility. We want to be your first or second institutional check.

Check Size: $250K–$750K

We write initial checks between $250,000 and $750,000. We reserve capital for follow-on investments in our highest-conviction positions as companies scale past seed milestones.

Geography: US and Remote-First

We invest in companies incorporated in the United States. We have no preference for physical location — our portfolio includes teams in New York, San Francisco, Austin, and fully remote-first companies.

Value-Add: Technical Depth

Our team provides hands-on support for product architecture reviews, developer experience design, open-source strategy, and enterprise sales motion development. We roll up our sleeves.

Network: Developer Community

We maintain active relationships across engineering communities, open-source foundations, and developer conferences. Our portfolio companies benefit from warm introductions to potential users, customers, and engineering hires.

Decision Speed: Fast

We respect founders' time. We aim to provide a clear yes or no within two weeks of a first meeting. We do not run months-long diligence processes. If we believe in you, we move quickly.

What We Look For in Founders

We have invested in a wide range of developer-tool companies, and we have developed a strong perspective on what separates the best founders in this category from the rest.

  • Deep technical credibility — founders who have used the problem they are solving professionally and understand the failure modes
  • Developer empathy — the ability to think from the perspective of the end user and design experiences that feel magical
  • Community intuition — an understanding of how developer communities form, grow, and make adoption decisions
  • Commercial clarity — founders who can articulate the path from open-source adoption or bottoms-up usage to sustainable recurring revenue
  • Patience for distribution — the best developer tools take time to reach critical mass; we back founders who understand compound growth
  • Strong writing — the best developer-tool founders communicate clearly in documentation, READMEs, and engineering blog posts
